Built for the writer at 9pm on a Tuesday.
PowerGrant is AI grant writing software for nonprofits and academic teams that drafts proposals only from your own verified facts (past applications, reports, and outcome data), not from boilerplate. When a draft needs a fact it does not have, it asks you instead of inventing one, so what you send stays true to your organization. We built it after watching good grant writers lose evenings to copy-paste. Here's why it exists, what we're building, and where it's going.
The problem we noticed.
Most grant writing isn't writing. It's looking up the same number you looked up last quarter, copying boilerplate from a Word doc, and adapting last year's narrative to a new funder's question set. It's a time tax — paid by people whose time should go to making progress, not paperwork.
The first wave of AI grant writing tools make the tax worse, not better. They generate confident-sounding but erroneous copy the writer has to fact-check, line by line. The "AI draft" becomes a draft of a draft, and any time saved gets lost in verification mode.
What we're building.
PowerGrant inverts the relationship between AI and your facts. Your knowledge base — filled with knowledge-rich content such as past proposal submissions, annual reports, program descriptions, outcome data — is the source of truth. The AI writes from that base, and only that base. When the AI sees opportunities to make an answer stronger with knowledge it lacks, it asks you for it.
That constraint is the product. It's why a PowerGrant draft reads like your organization wrote it: because your organization did. We handle the section-by-section assembly, narrative flow, funder-specific framing and the boilerplate. You handle the strategic edits and deep context-informed decisions only you can make.
Where we're going.
Drafting is the start. The same knowledge base that grounds a draft can surface the funders most likely to fund you, flag the program areas where your outcomes are strongest, and learn from every submission to make the next one tighter. Over time, PowerGrant becomes a partner that surfaces opportunities, not just a tool that fills in answers.
We're not in a hurry to ship every adjacent feature. We'd rather do the core well and let it earn the right to expand. Grant writers have been let down enough by hopeful product roadmaps.
